Request counseling through the university scheduler
Use the appointment-request link on Angelo State’s Counseling Services page or call 325-942-2371. State whether you are seeking a first appointment, returning for support, or trying to connect with outside care.
Counseling Services offers short-term care and can help identify community resources when you need support beyond campus services. If you need a different level or duration of treatment, raise that during the appointment-planning conversation.

Check the dates of your counseling eligibility
Angelo State’s published counseling eligibility begins seven days before the semester’s first class day and ends seven days after its last class day. The university ties eligibility to current enrollment.
If you will be between semesters, taking leave, or graduating, contact the office before your current period ends. Ask which dates apply to you and whether you need a community-care plan rather than assuming campus counseling continues indefinitely.
Confirm the out-of-state program for your enrollment
Angelo State directs students outside Texas to its TimelyCare information. That page describes virtual services across the United States but identifies eligible users as enrolled on-campus students. If you are distance-only or your enrollment is changing, ask Counseling Services to confirm eligibility.
The page lists emotional support, scheduled counseling, and general medical visits. Register through the university’s linked instructions using your school email, and ask about the specific service you need before relying on it for follow-up.
Separate medication questions from counseling scheduling
For a medical-care question, Angelo State’s University Health Clinic page directs students to Shannon Clinic and lists the student clinic contact at 325-942-2171. Ask that team or your existing prescriber how to arrange psychiatric assessment or medication follow-up for your situation.
A counseling request and a general medical appointment are different steps. Confirm who will manage ongoing medication care, what records are needed, and whether an outside referral is appropriate.
Allow time for a counseling-records request
Contact Counseling Services to request mental health records and complete its release-of-information form. The university describes staff review before release and provides delivery options on its records page.
If the records come from relationship counseling, Angelo State says both participants must complete a release; information may be redacted if one does not authorize disclosure. Tell the receiving clinician which kind of records you are requesting so the handoff can be planned accordingly.
Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Confirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
Questions before you arrange care
Does Angelo State counseling automatically continue after graduation?
Do not assume it does. Published eligibility is tied to enrollment and ends seven days after the semester’s last class day. Ask the office about your dates and transition options.
Can every online-only student assume access to the listed TimelyCare program?
Confirm first. Angelo State’s out-of-state page describes access for enrolled on-campus students. Counseling Services can clarify how the program applies to your enrollment.
Is a TimelyCare medical visit the same as an arranged psychiatry appointment?
No. The university lists general medical visits separately from counseling and emotional support. Ask the relevant team about the psychiatric service and follow-up you need.
