How a Therapist Can Help You

Therapists (also called counselors or psychotherapists) hold a master's degree and state licensure (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT). They deliver evidence-based talk therapies including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic therapy. Unlike psychiatrists, therapists do not prescribe medication — their work is entirely therapy-based, often in weekly or biweekly sessions.
