Begin with the current counseling contact or intake link
HSU’s Counseling Services page provides phone and email contact options and links an online intake.
Choose the route that fits the question you need answered. If you want to know how to begin, contact the office and ask which step to complete. If you use the intake, keep any submission notice and check for the next instruction. Tell staff about an existing request before starting another one. A useful follow-up identifies when you made contact and whether you need confirmation of receipt, instructions or an appointment time.

State whether you are asking about an in-person or remote visit
HSU describes both in-person and remote counseling options.
Explain what format you are requesting and when you can attend. If a remote visit would take place while you are traveling, tell the office where you would be and ask what can be arranged. Check the final confirmation for the actual format and joining instructions. A general description of remote services does not resolve the details of your particular visit. If the arrangement changes, keep the updated instructions with the appointment rather than relying on an earlier message.

Ask which service handles the next appointment
The page explains that intake may lead to a university counselor, another HSU counseling clinic or a community referral.
Ask for the name of the service and the next action expected from you. If another office is involved, clarify whether you should call it or wait for its response. Ask which information it needs and how any records should be requested. You can describe your practical goal without deciding on a treatment or assuming a particular counselor will be assigned. Keep a referral contact distinct from an accepted appointment at the receiving service.

Confirm the building before an in-person visit
The current page gives different building names in its introductory notice and its FAQ.
Ask the counseling office to confirm the location and room for your specific appointment before traveling across campus. Include the visit date when asking, especially if you were given directions earlier in the semester. Save the answer with your confirmation and allow enough time to find the entrance. If you receive another document with a different address, ask staff to resolve it rather than choosing whichever version is easiest to find online.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
Questions before you arrange care
Does submitting intake mean a counselor and time have been assigned?
Look for a separate response identifying the next service and appointment details. If you only have proof of submission, ask the office what remains to be arranged.

Which office location should I use if the page lists two?
Confirm directly with Counseling Services for the appointment you are attending. Keep the current room and arrival directions with the visit details instead of treating conflicting webpage text as settled.
