Use the counseling portal for the initial request
LCU’s Counseling Center links to a patient portal for appointments and forms. Its current page also allows students to contact the office directly. The first assessment helps identify whether campus counseling or a different service fits the concern.
Before submitting a request, identify times you can realistically attend around classes and other commitments. Look for the office’s reply and confirm whether you have a scheduled assessment or are still waiting for staff contact. If you cannot use the portal, ask the center for its alternative intake route.

Keep campus counseling fees separate from referral costs
The center currently lists a free initial consultation, a charge for later sessions and no insurance billing. It may refer students who need intensive or longer-term care outside the center; those outside costs remain the client’s responsibility.
Ask for the current follow-up fee before agreeing to a series of visits. If an outside referral is suggested, make a separate cost check with that practice. A helpful question is: What will I pay for the initial visit, and what will later visits cost? Keep the answer with the appointment confirmation.

Ask Student Health which medical service is appropriate
LCU’s Student Health Office describes a convenient-care clinic staffed by a registered nurse and a family nurse practitioner on specified days. Its service description is separate from the Counseling Center. The page does not establish that every psychiatric medication request can be managed there.
If you already see a prescriber, explain that you are seeking continuity while studying in Lubbock. Ask whether Student Health can assess the request or help identify the correct outside service. Confirm appointment type, records needed and responsibility for follow-up with the treating clinician before assuming care has transferred.

Start accommodations through Accessibility Services
LCU requires students seeking accommodations to contact Accessibility Services and participate in an individualized discussion. Its instructions describe an appointment with the coordinator, relevant documentation and a conversation about the requested support.
Start with the practical barrier: attending class, completing an assessment or using a campus service. Ask the coordinator which documentation is needed before requesting paperwork from a clinician. If you are already receiving treatment, that does not replace the university’s application process or establish which accommodation will be approved.
Make a calendar plan before leaving Lubbock
The Student Health Office publishes semester hours, holiday closures and variable summer hours. Check the office calendar before choosing a visit around the end of term.
Write down the last confirmed campus appointment, your departure date and the next clinician contact. If another office will receive records, ask both offices to confirm the submission route and receipt. For a virtual appointment, tell the receiving practice where you will physically be. These checks help turn a proposed handoff into a usable plan without assuming that a new office has accepted responsibility.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
Questions before you arrange care
Does LCU counseling bill my insurance?
LCU’s published Counseling Center policy says it does not accept insurance. Verify the current session charge directly; an outside provider has a separate billing arrangement.

Do I request academic accommodations from my counselor?
Begin with LCU Accessibility Services. Ask which documentation is needed, then discuss that request with the appropriate clinician. The university’s coordinator handles the accommodation process.
