Ask the counseling department about an assessment
Midland College’s Student Support Services page says students or faculty and staff may request a mental-health assessment through the counseling department. The current mental-health page provides the counselor’s contact details and describes services for eligible enrolled students.
When contacting the department, state that you are seeking a student counseling assessment and identify your enrollment situation. If an employee suggested the request, explain what instructions you received and ask whether anything has already been sent. Obtain the appointment details from the counseling department itself, including how to prepare and where to attend.

Confirm whether the proposed service is student counseling or ADAC
The college lists ADAC separately from its student mental-health assessment service. It describes ADAC sessions as provided by advanced students under professional supervision and notes a charge.
If someone uses the word counseling without naming the program, ask which service they mean. Clarify the provider arrangement, intake, eligibility and current cost with that program. Do not apply the student counseling page’s fee description to a different service merely because both appear on the same college directory. Write the program name beside the appointment so the distinction remains clear.
Make an outside referral usable for your circumstances
Midland’s counseling information describes help locating specialized resources and making outside referrals when appropriate.
Explain any practical limits that could prevent you from acting on a recommendation: transportation, work hours, uncertainty about coverage or difficulty reaching an office. Ask whether the next organization expects a referral from the college or a direct call from you. Contact that organization to verify the exact visit type, intake and payment arrangements. If the route cannot be completed, tell the college counselor which step failed so you can discuss another next action.

Ask how to request and send counseling records
The college’s mental-health page identifies the option to request counseling records from the counselor.
Before asking for a transfer, get the receiving office’s verified destination and the type of material it needs. Ask the college counselor which authorization and submission method to use. Keep health documents out of a general scheduling message until the office explains the appropriate route. After the request, check with the receiving office that the material arrived rather than assuming a sent form completed the transfer.
- Name of the office holding the records.
- Receiving clinician or organization and verified delivery destination.
- Records requested and any permission form needed.
- Date requested and a plan to check receipt.
Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
