Use the counselor appointment route
The Counseling Services page links individual counselor schedules and a general contact. It describes face-to-face counseling as requiring an appointment.
Use the college page to reach the current scheduling link. Confirm the counselor, location and time you selected, then ask whether any intake step remains. If another campus office directed you to counseling, bring the name of that office and its instructions. This helps the counselor distinguish a personal appointment request from a separate administrative requirement without your having to guess which process applies.

Review written permission for an outside referral
Odessa College says an outside referral may be requested by the student or recommended by the counselor and requires written permission from the person seeking off-campus counseling.
Ask the counselor to explain the recipient and the purpose of the referral before completing the form. Clarify whether it authorizes sharing information, whether the receiving service still needs you to call and how any records will be delivered. Keep your own list of the steps agreed upon. Contact the receiving office about its intake and costs; permission for a referral does not settle those arrangements.

Separate a completion certificate from a clinical record request
For mandatory counseling following a campus-rule violation, the college describes a release allowing the counselor to send a completion or non-completion certificate to Student Life.
If this applies to you, ask Student Life for the precise requirement and ask the counselor what the release covers. Confirm the recipient, the deadline and how completion will be acknowledged. A certificate serves an administrative purpose, so do not assume it is the same document as a treatment summary or an authorization to send your entire record. Direct questions about your individual requirement to the college offices responsible for it.

Keep support requests and campus reporting in the right place
Odessa’s student resource directory lists Counseling Services and the Behavioral Intervention Team separately.
If you are seeking an appointment for yourself, use the counseling contact rather than assuming a report or an academic message has booked a session. When several offices are involved, keep a simple task list with the office responsible for each item. Ask about privacy and applicable disclosures during intake rather than relying on a blanket promise about every circumstance.
- Counseling office: appointment and any clinical referral discussion.
- Receiving outside service: intake, records destination and payment questions.
- Student Life, when applicable: the stated campus requirement and receipt of its certificate.
- You: check what remains pending and retain the confirmations supplied to you.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
