Confirm current enrollment and request a routine appointment
UHD’s FAQ describes counseling access for students actively enrolled in the current semester. Routine visits require an appointment, with phone contact listed for arranging one.
Tell the office whether you are starting counseling or returning after an earlier visit. If your registration has changed, ask staff to check the current-semester requirement before planning around a session. Write down the appointment type, date and confirmation instructions. The main page also links a health portal; ask the office how that portal fits your request rather than assuming every service is booked there.

Ask specifically about the virtual evening schedule
UHD publishes daytime hours for in-person appointments and an additional Monday-through-Thursday evening window for virtual appointments. It also notes university closures.
When discussing a time, say whether you need an evening virtual visit or can attend in person. Confirm the current hours, appointment opening and location where you will be during the visit. Ask how you will receive connection instructions and who to contact if they do not arrive. Reserve the time only after the office confirms the arrangement; an advertised window is not a list of open slots.
Allow time for the initial documents
The FAQ says the first session includes intake information and consent and privacy documents. Its instructions ask students to arrive ten minutes early.
Check whether those arrival instructions apply to your chosen format and whether the office wants anything completed in advance. If you cannot access a document, explain the problem before the appointment and ask for assistance. Use the office’s designated process for sending information. At the end of the visit, confirm the next scheduling task rather than assuming a recurring time has been reserved.
Direct records and medication questions separately
UHD tells students to contact Student Counseling Services for copies of counseling records. The FAQ also says the service does not provide medication and does not write notes excusing academic absences.
For a record request, explain the recipient and purpose, then ask for the required authorization and delivery steps. If your goal is a medication appointment, ask which medical or psychiatric service to contact. For an academic absence requirement, obtain the program’s instructions before asking a health office for documents. Keeping these tasks separate helps you avoid sending a full counseling record when a different document or process is needed.
Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
