What Medicare actually covers here

With Original Medicare plus a supplement plan, many of our patients pay little or nothing per visit; without a supplement, Part B typically leaves 20 percent coinsurance. Mental health after 65 is medicine, not weakness
Depression is not a normal part of aging, and neither is anxiety that arrives with retirement, widowhood, or a new diagnosis. Treatment after 65 asks more of a prescriber: medications interact with blood pressure and heart drugs, doses that suit a 40 year old can be wrong at 75, and grief and depression need to be told apart with some care. If you are reading this on behalf of your mother or father, you are our most common caller. Here is the division of labor that works: you handle the logistics, they own the care. Photograph the Medicare card and any supplement card, write down the current medication list from the kitchen counter, and book the first visit. With your parent\u2019s consent you can join that visit by video from your own city, hear the assessment, and ask the questions they will not think to ask. Does Lyte Psychiatry accept new Medicare patients?
Yes. We accept Original Medicare and we are actively taking new Medicare patients, with most first appointments available within 1 to 2 business days. That combination is rare in psychiatry, and it is the reason many of our older patients found us after months of calling offices that had stopped taking Medicare entirely.
Do you take Medicare Advantage plans?
Many of them. Advantage networks vary plan by plan, so send us a photo of the card, both sides, and we will confirm your exact coverage and visit cost before anything is booked. If your plan requires a prior authorization, we handle the paperwork rather than sending you to do it.
Does Medicare cover telehealth psychiatry?
Yes. Medicare covers mental health visits by video from your home, and that coverage is a permanent feature for behavioral health, not a leftover pandemic rule. Some situations call for an occasional in person visit, and our clinic in the Dallas-Fort Worth area covers that when it applies.
Can I set up care for my mother or father?
Yes, and about a third of our Medicare inquiries start exactly this way, usually from an adult daughter. You can gather the card, the medication list, and the story, and book the first appointment. Your parent owns the treatment relationship from there, and with their consent you can join the first video visit from your own city and hear the plan directly.
