Match the notice to the person and application
HealthCare.gov directs applicants to select the application that matches the application ID in their letter. The Application details area lists the information that needs confirmation.
Record the person named, the issue, the application ID and the deadline together. If several household members have requests, keep a separate checklist for each issue. An upload under one person’s request should not be assumed to resolve another person’s notice.

Use the requested document type
The Marketplace lists different immigration documents and identifying numbers, depending on the applicant’s situation. Examples include a permanent resident card, employment authorization document, arrival/departure record or student-status document.
Use the notice and the current official document list to identify what is being requested. If the listed options do not fit your records, ask Marketplace assistance which document to submit. Possessing a listed document does not by itself establish coverage eligibility, and this guide does not interpret immigration status.
Upload to the specific issue or mail identified copies
In Application details, use the upload action beside the issue, choose the document type and submit a readable file. HealthCare.gov provides file-format and size requirements. A checkmark indicates a successful upload.
If using mail, send copies rather than originals and include the notice’s barcode page or the identifying information specified in the instructions. Keep the upload confirmation or mailing record privately. Immigration documents belong in the Marketplace’s designated process, not a clinical practice’s inquiry form.

Distinguish receipt from resolution
The Marketplace first matches documents to the application and then reviews them. A successful upload is not a final eligibility decision. Follow any later request for additional information.
If reminders continue, ask the Marketplace whether the documents were received. Its guidance says not to send identical documents again when the Call Center has confirmed receipt unless another request requires action. Keep the response and any remaining task beside the original notice.
Your next-step checklist
- Identify the person, application ID, issue and deadline in the notice.
- Match the requested evidence to the official document list.
- Prepare a readable copy in an accepted file format.
- Use the upload action for that specific issue or the identified mailing route.
- Save confirmation and distinguish document receipt from the final response.
Keep personal, insurance and medical information in the appropriate organization’s approved secure channel.
Common questions
Does a document upload mean my coverage is approved?
No. The Marketplace still reviews the evidence and sends a notice about the issue. The upload confirmation only shows that the file was submitted.

Should I resend documents every time I receive a reminder?
If the Call Center confirms that the Marketplace has received them, its guidance says not to send the same documents again unless more information is requested. If they were not received, follow the notice and submission instructions.
