Find the transportation route for your actual product
Superior directs eligible members to SafeRide and distinguishes that booking portal from its health-plan portal. Its described program excludes CHIP and CHIP Perinate. Wellpoint’s Texas Medicaid page uses MTM and separate product contacts; STAR+PLUS nursing-facility members have limited benefits because their facility handles most transportation needs.
Use the current official page for your own plan, or ask Member Services which vendor handles the request. Do not select a number simply because another family member uses it. Ask who confirms that this particular trip is eligible.

Prepare the appointment and trip information together
Superior lists member identification, contact details, clinician name, appointment time and pickup/drop-off addresses among reservation details. Have the confirmed clinic location available; a provider’s mailing address may differ from the office entrance.
Keep separate notes for arrival time, expected visit length and the return-trip question. Tell the vendor about travel outside the usual service area. Wellpoint publishes different local and out-of-area lead times, so ask about timing before relying on a tentative appointment.

Ask about the help needed during the trip
Describe wheelchair-access, boarding or companion needs when requesting the ride. Superior explains that arrangements depend on member needs and that an attendant may require authorization. Ask what documentation, if any, is needed.
Do not assume a reservation includes assistance inside the building or supervision during the visit. If someone must accompany you, confirm their travel arrangements and responsibilities. Keep these questions distinct from whether the clinical appointment is covered.

Save both confirmations and update both organizations
Record the ride reference, pickup instructions, return arrangement and vendor’s ride-status contact. Ask what to do if the appointment runs longer than expected or the driver has not arrived. A booked appointment is not evidence of a booked ride.
If the visit changes, contact both the practice and transportation vendor. Superior publishes a change/cancellation process; Wellpoint identifies a ride-status route. Confirm that each organization has the new date or cancellation rather than assuming one automatically informs the other.

Your next-step checklist
- Identify the carrier, Medicaid product and transportation vendor.
- Confirm the appointment’s address and arrival time.
- Ask about trip eligibility, lead time, mobility assistance and a companion.
- Save outbound and return arrangements.
- Notify both the practice and vendor if the visit changes.
Keep personal, insurance and medical information in the appropriate organization’s approved secure channel.
Common questions
Does Medicaid transportation mean any clinic visit is covered?
No. Ask the plan about the intended service and provider, and ask the vendor about the trip. Eligibility for a ride and payment for the appointment are separate questions.

Can I use another plan’s ride portal?
Use the route for your own plan and product. Superior describes SafeRide; Wellpoint describes MTM. These examples are not instructions for every Texas member.
