Who comes to the Pantego clinic
You are somewhere in Arlington and you want to be in the same room as your psychiatrist. That is what this office is for. The office is on W Park Row Dr, about 3 miles west of the UT Arlington campus and about 3 miles southwest of Texas Health Arlington Memorial on Randol Mill Rd. Medical City Arlington on Matlock Rd is about 6 miles southeast. If you work the line at GM Arlington Assembly on E Abram St, you are about 7 miles away with a straight shot west on Abram or Division.
Most of our in-person patients live in central and west Arlington, Pantego, Dalworthington Gardens, and the south Fort Worth neighborhoods along I-20. A lot of them are Arlington ISD staff, UTA students on a parent's plan, and GM families on a rotating schedule who need a visit that fits between shifts. Some come once for the first evaluation and then switch to video from home. Others want every visit in the room. Both work. We are the private-pay and insurance alternative to MHMR of Tarrant County, the county's public mental health authority, for people who have a plan or can pay $250.
What happens at your first visit in Pantego
You book online, and we verify your benefits before you arrive. Bring your ID, your insurance card, and a list of any medication you take now or have tried before. If you have old records, prior prescriptions, or a school report for a child, bring those too. You will fill out a short intake form; it takes about ten minutes.
The evaluation itself runs about an hour. You meet the prescriber at the first visit. Dr. Akintola or Toyin Awe will ask what brought you in, what you have tried, what your days look like, and what you want to change. If a medication makes sense, it is sent to your pharmacy that day. If therapy makes sense, you can book the first therapy session before you leave, with a counselor who shares your chart. If we think you need a level of care we do not offer, we tell you that day and say where to go.
For children and teens, the parent sits in for the first part and the young person gets time alone with the psychiatrist for the second part. Dr. Akintola is board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, so an Arlington ISD parent who has been told the wait at a children's hospital is months can usually be seen here this week.
Can you mix in-person and video visits?
Yes. Many Pantego patients see Dr. Akintola or Toyin Awe in the office and then meet their LPC by video from home or from a parked car on a lunch break. Both clinicians write in one chart, so your therapist sees your medication changes and your prescriber sees your therapy notes. You keep the same provider every visit.
The reverse works too. You can start with a video evaluation and come in person later if you want a face-to-face check-in, or if your prescriber wants to see you in the room.
One rule applies to stimulants. If you are starting a stimulant for ADHD, our policy is that the first evaluation happens in person at our Pantego clinic; follow-ups can be by video.
