Book with Dr. →About Dr.
Dr. Akinwande Akintola is the Medical Director and Supervisory Psychiatrist at Lyte Psychiatry. He is dual board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry — a distinction held by fewer than 10% of practicing psychiatrists.
Dr. Akintola completed his fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Medicine, one of the nation's premier academic medical centers, where he developed expertise in complex mood disorders, treatment-resistant depression, and psychopharmacology across the lifespan.
Prior to founding Lyte Psychiatry, Dr. Akintola served as a facility medical director and department chair at the Seay Behavioral Health Center in Plano, TX — bringing institutional leadership experience to his clinical practice. He continues to see patients in Plano in addition to Lyte Psychiatry's Pantego clinic.
Dr. Akintola's approach combines evidence-based pharmacotherapy with a strong therapeutic alliance. He believes that the right diagnosis and medication, paired with patient education and ongoing monitoring, produces the best long-term outcomes — and that every patient deserves care that is both scientifically rigorous and deeply human.
Clinical Approach
Evidence-based pharmacotherapy combined with patient education and a strong therapeutic alliance. Dr. Akintola prioritizes accurate diagnosis before treatment, believing that the right medication at the right dose transforms lives — and that ongoing monitoring is as important as the initial prescription.
