Therapy for Anger in Texas

How therapy helps with anger
Anger is a normal, useful emotion — but it becomes a problem when it's disproportionate, frequent, or expressed in ways that harm your relationships, work, or health. Often anger sits on top of something else: hurt, fear, shame, or unmet needs, plus a nervous system that escalates faster than you can think.
CBT for anger helps you identify the triggers and the hot thoughts ("this is disrespect," "they did it on purpose") that pour fuel on the fire, and it builds the ability to pause and respond deliberately. DBT skills add emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness — how to be assertive and set limits without exploding.
Effective anger work also addresses the physiology: recognizing the early body cues of escalation and using regulation skills before you're past the point of no return. When anger is tied to depression, trauma, or another condition, Lyte's in-house prescribers can help sort out what's driving it.
Therapy for anger may help if…
- Your anger feels bigger or faster than the situation warrants
- Anger is damaging your relationships, work, or reputation
- You often regret what you said or did once you've calmed down
- You suspect anger is covering hurt, fear, or shame underneath
- You want concrete skills to catch and cool anger earlier

Frequently asked questions
Does anger management therapy actually work?
Yes. CBT-based anger management has good evidence for reducing the frequency and intensity of anger and improving how it's expressed. DBT skills add powerful tools for regulating intense emotion in the moment.
Is my anger a sign of another condition?
Sometimes. Anger and irritability can accompany depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD. Part of therapy is understanding what's underneath — and Lyte's in-house prescribers can help if a co-occurring condition is involved.
What will I actually learn?
You'll learn to recognize your triggers and early body cues, challenge the thoughts that escalate anger, use in-the-moment regulation skills, and communicate assertively so you can set limits without blowing up.
Is anger therapy available by telehealth in Texas?
Yes, across Texas by secure video, with in-person appointments available in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
