Prepare the information TRS requests
TRS requests your Medicare Beneficiary Identifier, or MBI, after Medicare enrollment. Locate that information and your current TRS correspondence together.
Use a short task sheet with four fields: information requested, submission route, submission date and response received. Keep the actual identifier in your secure records rather than repeating it across calendar reminders. This sheet can track the task without becoming another copy of your insurance documents. Add a question mark beside any item you still need to resolve, rather than leaving a blank that could look complete later.

Use a TRS submission route
TRS accepts Medicare information through MyTRS’s Health tab, TRS Health by phone, or its requested form returned to TRS. Do not send a Medicare card copy.
Choose the route you can complete and keep track of. If you use a form, check its return instructions before sending it. If you call, ask how you can confirm that the information was recorded. Note any correction requested and its destination; do not assume that fixing information with one organization updates every other record.

Track medical and pharmacy confirmations separately
TRS verifies the information with UnitedHealthcare, checks effective dates and shares it with Express Scripts. Vendor confirmations follow.
Make two entries in your folder, one for each vendor response. When a message arrives, check the name, stated plan and effective date against your notes. Mark a missing or conflicting response as a question for TRS or the named vendor. Ask what remains outstanding and which organization should resolve it before closing the task.

Check the person and appointment the update concerns
A covered spouse not yet eligible for Medicare may remain on TRS-Care Standard. Keep each person’s confirmation with their own insurance record.
For your upcoming mental health visit, ask the billing office which new plan details it needs and how to provide them. State the appointment date, clinician and intended coverage. If a vendor confirmation is missing, describe that unresolved step accurately. Ask the practice about its administrative arrangements while the issue is being checked.

Your next-step checklist
- Locate the requested MBI and current TRS instructions.
- Record how and when you submitted the information.
- Keep any correction request with the original task.
- Check medical and pharmacy vendor responses.
- Update the practice for the named person and appointment.
Keep personal, insurance and medical information in the appropriate organization’s approved secure channel.
Common questions
Should I send TRS a photo of my Medicare card?
TRS instructs participants not to send a card copy. Use one of its stated routes to provide the Medicare information and ask for help if you cannot complete that route.

What if only one vendor has sent confirmation?
Keep the other response marked as unresolved. Ask TRS or the relevant vendor whether information is missing, and record who owns the next step before updating your appointment notes.
