Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth is a different kind of installation: most of its people are reservists and guardsmen who drill one weekend a month while holding down civilian jobs across the Metroplex. Their mental health care tends to fall in the gap between the military and civilian systems. We sit in that gap on purpose, about twenty minutes from the base at our Pantego clinic, in network with TRICARE and with the commercial plans reservists carry through their day jobs.
When the clinic on post is booked out
A reserve base has no full service military hospital behind it, so most behavioral health care for JRB families happens in the civilian network by design. TRICARE Reserve Select works much like a normal insurance plan, with self referral for outpatient mental health in most cases, and if you carry a different flavor of TRICARE we will check the rules for you. If a drill weekend or annual training disrupts a medication schedule, we plan refills around it.

TRICARE, referrals, and what a visit costs
We are in network with TRICARE, including Reserve Select, and with the major commercial carriers, which covers the common reservist situation of a family split between two coverage sources. Veterans around Fort Worth who have separated entirely can usually use commercial coverage or self pay with us while VA appointments catch up.

How visits work for NAS JRB Fort Worth families
This is our home turf. The clinic in Pantego is about twenty minutes from the JRB gate, so this is the one installation where in person care is a simple option, including the in person evaluation Texas requires before a stimulant prescription for ADHD. Video works too, and evening slots exist for people balancing drill schedules, a civilian job, and a family.
